How many of you have had moments in life where everything just felt too heavy? Have you ever suddenly awoken in the middle of the night with a heavy burden that you just couldn’t shake?
Our lives are often compared to a journey, with its ups and downs, twists and turns. Along with that journey, we are often tasked with carrying the load of our responsibilities, challenges, and emotions. Just like a traveler carries a heavy backpack filled with essentials, we too bear the weight of our lives.
I’ve been reflecting on the weight that has burdened my chest and shoulders for years which has often felt like too much to bear. I vividly remember talking to God, confessing that I could no longer handle it. I poured out my heart in desperation. His response, after my tears had flowed for what seemed like an eternity, was a piercing question: "Did I ever ask you to carry this?" His words stung but were comforting and reminded me that just as He bore the weight of all sins on the cross, He also carries my worries, doubts, fears, stress, pain, rejection, and hurt. At that moment, I had to release it all to Him. For years, I had shouldered these burdens needlessly, simply because it was all I knew.
Matthew 11:28-30(NIV)- “ Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29: Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30: For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
What burdens are you still carrying, reluctant to fully surrender to Jesus? He is the one who can carry your weight, your burdens, and so much more.
Letting go of our burdens does not mean we stop thinking about them. We can still bring them to our Father, listen to his guidance, and thank Him for allowing us to give him our burdens. He wants us to come to Him. Remember that God wants to hold it and YOU in his hand! So LET GO and LET GOD!
1 Peter 5:7(AMP)- “Casting all your cares (all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all) on Him, for He cares about you (with the deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully).”
